Surrounded by tulips and spring gardens in the Dandenong Ranges, it created an incredible backdrop for a proposal and some seriously beautiful engagement photos afterwards.

Thomas & Liana’s Tesselaar Tulip Festival Proposal
The Tesselaar Tulip Festival is held each spring at Tesselaar Flower Farm in Silvan, around 60 minutes from Melbourne.
For the 2026 season, the festival runs from 12 September to 11 October, opening daily from 10am–5pm.
With spring flowers, garden displays, entertainment and dedicated photo opportunities throughout the property, there are plenty of beautiful places to capture a proposal.
Thomas had planned to propose to Liana during their visit, while our photographer Vanessa was secretly waiting nearby.
Liana had absolutely no idea.
Vanessa discreetly photographed the lead-up before capturing the moment Thomas got down on one knee, Liana’s reaction and those first few minutes together as a newly engaged couple.
Afterwards, they wandered through the festival for some beautiful engagement photos amongst the flowers.
How Much Does It Cost to Propose at the Tesselaar Tulip Festival?
One of the great things about a Tesselaar Tulip Festival proposal is that you don't necessarily need to hire an expensive private venue.
For the 2026 festival, general admission is currently:
Adults – $27.50
Concession – $24.50
Children aged 3–16 – free when accompanied by an adult
Children aged 0–2 – free
There are also discounted Spring Fever off-peak tickets available on selected weekdays outside the school holidays, currently priced at $19 for adults and $17 concession.
If you are bringing a professional proposal photographer, remember to factor in their festival admission as well. Tesselaar advises that photographers attending shoots also need their own admission ticket.

If you wanted to create something particularly special, it may also be worth contacting Tesselaar directly and asking whether early access or after-hours access could be arranged for a proposal.
This isn't something currently advertised as a standard option, so it would need to be approved directly by the venue — but when you're planning something this important, we always think it's worth asking!
